Ok, not really sure how much of an "introduction" this is.. but here she is. She was named when it became obvious that she'd been around a bit and it stuck after the first time we tried to take the engine out and she fought all the way. Since I've had her we've done many things to her some of them I can even remember and list here:

1. New Engine (My Xmas present year before last - thank you Marv :D )
2. New Exhaust & Heat exchangers
3. Lots of welding curtesy of Nick (if I had a hat it would be off, as always your help is very much appreciated)
4. Recovered all the cushions and replaced the curtains (Bunks next me thinks)
5. Put her on Empi 5s (natch, dahling)
6. Two new cab doors are sitting in the garage waiting for the oppotune time for hanging - Xmas present last year ( what is the correct term for putting a door on, I clearly have no idea what I'm talking about...as mentioned in the last forum, I am usually chief brewmaker)
7. Emptied the ashtray (I don't think it had been done since at least the 80s  )
8. Added a roof rack which has almost as much rust as the rest of the camper...it didn't need to fit in, it was fine as it was...all shiny and new :?
9. Added a stainless visor - Mmmm...shiny bit :D :D

Think that's about it for now...though a nice pic of her visit to Woolacombe wouldn't go amiss!!:

lol, you don't need to apologise, Pinkbaby! I am frantically trying to cast my mind back to think what *stuff* might have been slung in the back, but if it was Iceland car park it was probably on the day of The Wedding and therefore would have been both empty and clean - woohooo!!

It absolutely DOES NOT look like that all the time

:D

and so it's started :-

remove all cables, fuel line & electricals

Image

undo the 1 bolt and 3 nuts
level the driveway up with a chipboard flooring sheet
and drag the motor out

Image
Image

make sure fuel line isn't leaking,
gear box is supported
and most importantly while doing these checks,
make sure you have no bum cleavage showing what so ever,
you never know when a picture may be taken

Image

and relax

Image

please note that the engine is on a stretcher
and was rushed to the burns unit immediately,

Image

(NO PEOPLE WERE SHOUTED AT ,OR HURT,
DURING THE REMOVAL OF THIS ENGINE )

well thats a very good question
and thanks for asking Adrian

we thought it would be a good idea
was to strip the engine to see what we need to rebuild her

so i started this morning by taking the headers
and heat exchangers off
who ever put them on did too good of a job

and it went from this

Image

to this

Image

and also this

Image

after all that we ordered new heads ,1600 barrels and pistons,
1641 barrels and pistons, gaskets and stuff
so we are now waiting for them to turn up

if all goes to plan the spare barrels and piston set
will be in the beetle engine before long

many thanks go out to my glamourous assistant
nemopolo :D
