the shagged old split is fixed. how he has'nt gone badly wrong before now i dont know.
ade has always said he runs a bit hot which isnt suprising as the numptys who built the engine didnt blank off the outlet on the side of the pump casting which you need to do if you are running a seperate oil filter and cooler.
due to the fact a 1776 will run hotter than a normal 1600, the standard oil cooler cant cope so a seperate cooler system needs to be fitted.
if you dont blank off the outlet in the side of the pump the oil will travel around the engine in the normal way so it will run fu**in hot.
once this is blanked off the oil is then forced out of the outlet on the oil pump face (after market part) and into the filter then cooler before it is returned into the standard oil way then into the standard cooler and back to the sump.
the prob with ade's van was that only a small amount of oil was forced into the seperate system causing the engine to overheat. the upshot of this is that it hardened the seals in the standard cooler causing the oil to piss out.
still he's fully serviced up now and just waiting for a tune up on tuesday as he's running like a bag of shit.
job done, hopefully
