hello.

Just decided its time for my beetle to change its oil. Browsing through the Haynes manual and it said to put in a new paper gasket when removing the strainer. Is this deadly important or is it overkill and just keep with the old one? I suppose if it rips i will need a new one.

Would be greatfull for any answers.

The old one will be knackered and they are only 50p :shock:

Im gonna try to find one today but if i can't find one, then those gaskets do sound tempting

ive got some as well if you need one, but watch the strainer, sometimes new ones dont fit and you need to make them with a bit of brute force and ignorance!!
you can allways try and clean out the old one.

Thanks for the advice, i managed to get hold of some gaskets, cleaned out the strainer and all seems to be well.

No leaks yet.

forgot to mention. About 2 weeks ago when you left work your offside taillight wasn't working have you checked it recently?
